Nixalite is proud to offer Biogents Mosquito Traps

Biogents mosquito traps are the result of more than 16 years of academic research into the behavior of mosquitoes. As a result, a highly effective type of trap was developed that targets tiger mosquitoes (Aedes albopictus) and yellow fever mosquitoes (Aedes aegypti) that are host-seeking. Biogents also offers a trap which targets tiger mosquitoes that are looking for a place to lay their eggs.
Biogents mosquito traps can locally control mosquito populations and significantly reduce biting pressure and nuisance. With over 100,000 sold mosquito traps, Biogents is one of the market leaders for tiger mosquito traps (Asian tiger mosquitoes, Aedes albopictus, and dengue or yellow fever mosquitoes, Aedes aegypti). The superior efficiency of Biogents mosquito traps has been scientifically proven by researchers worldwide.
Biogents has developed traps that only target bloodsucking insects and show the highest catch rates of mosquitoes without using toxic pesticides.

BG Mosquito Trap
Biogents suction mosquito traps can locally control mosquito populations and significantly reduce the number of Tiger mosquitoes on your property.
BG CO2 Mosquito Trap
Biogents suction mosquito traps can locally control mosquito populations. This trap uses CO2 as an attractant to significantly reduce the number of biting nuisance mosquitoes on your property.
BG-GAT Mosquito Trap
Biogents BG-GAT is a passive low-cost and easy to use tool that can help you reduce the Asian tiger (Aedes albopictus) and yellow fever mosquito (Aedes aegypti) population in your backyard. Requires no power source or attractants.
Correct placement and application of the traps are extremely important factors for effective mosquito control
When to place the trap:
The trap should be put out when the average temperature has risen above 60° F (15° C). Above this temperature, adult mosquitoes fly actively. It is best to catch the mosquitoes as early in the year as possible before they have a chance to reproduce and lay their eggs. It is important to make sure that the ventilator of the trap runs 24 hours a day.
Where to place the trap:
The goal is to catch the mosquitoes before they reach you. Therefore, it is important to choose a position near the resting areas of the mosquitoes. During the day, mosquitoes spend their rest periods in shady, wind-protected vegetation. If you place the trap here, you can catch the mosquitoes before they reach and bite you. Overhanging plants and bushes often form an empty space underneath. This is an ideal location for the trap if it provides enough space, both for the air currents and for the visibility of the trap.

How Does the Biogents Mosquito Trap work?
A single fan sucks the attracted mosquitoes into a catch bag below the black suction column of the trap. The air stream is then diverted and exits the trap through the white upper surface made of plastic. This air stream mimics the typical scent plume that is produced by a warm human body. To the mosquitoes, the trap looks just like a human being.
The contrast between the dark center and the light surface of the trap is an additional important attractive signal for the mosquitoes and completes the capture method.
A scent dispenser inside the trap enriches the air stream with small amounts of substances similar to those produced by the human skin. These substances act as synergists to enhance the attractiveness of the traps.

Carbon dioxide (optional), in the form of dry ice or bottled gas, can be added to the air stream in order to increase the variety of species collected, and maximize the capture rate. Typically, the level of CO2 released corresponds to the amount exhaled by a young child.
Trap Placement:
- Traps should be used outdoors
- Traps should be placed in shady, wind-protected and humid places, near resting sites of mosquitoes
- Continuously operate the trap (24 hours a day for the entire mosquito season)
- Begin operating the trap early in the mosquito season
